

Budgetmon is a gamified budgeting app that combines real-life banking simulations with engaging gameplay, offering a low-risk way for users to develop responsible financial skills. Users can analyze spending habits, track bills, and create personalized goals and budgets. By making money management interactive and rewarding, Budgetmon empowers future generations to take control of their finances and build healthier financial habits.
In this Game Experience Design, we explored solutions to create positive social change through the design of a purpose-driven game. We researched a problem a generation is facing today and developed our own concept, problem solving strategies, and game play mechanisms. Combining 2D and 3D skillsets, the project involved research, branding, character design, UI design, and fantastic overall user engagement




Target Audience
Budgetmon is designed with Millennials in mind—those who have navigated multiple financial crises throughout their lifetime—while also aiming to educate and empower future generations like Gen Alpha.
Millenials have lived through mutiple financial crises including:
- Recession (1980-1986)
- Mini Recession (1992-1993)
- The Dot Com Bust (late 90s - early 2000s)
- The Great Recession (2008)
- Economic Downturn (2020)
The start of Gen Alpha has been sandwiched between two economic crises:
- The Great Recession (2007 - 2008)
- Economic Downturn (2020)
Gen Alpha is growing up with technology at their fingertips, making them the most technologically literate generation. This provides advantages such as greater access to education and learning resources.
Problem
Throughout their lifetime, Millenials have lived through several challenging economic circumstances and rises that have had long-lasting effects on future generations.
How can we provide more opportunities to learn more about responsible budgeting and finances while encouraging and motivating future generations to do the same?
